Research on the stochastic knowledge of mathematics teachers 2018-2023

Abstract

There is currently a growing interest in understanding teachers' stochastic knowledge and its implications for teaching. This work analyzes the current state of research in this regard, through a systematic review of research journals in educational mathematics included in the JCR. A total of 16 articles were found that together have identified deficiencies in the stochastic and didactic knowledge of stochastics of active and in-training teachers, significant deficiencies that affect the quality of teaching. This analysis reveals the need for training actions, highlighting the importance of strengthening the initial and continuous training of mathematics teachers to improve the quality of education in statistics and probability, to close the gap in the understanding of stochastic content and improve the teaching of this.
