Conhecimentos especializados para o ensino de probabilidade e estatística presentes no manual didático brasileiro do quarto ano do ensino fundamental

Abstract

The textbook is a tool widely used by teachers of elementary schools in Brazil. Thus, this article presents the research that sought to identify the specialized knowledge for the teaching of Probability and Statistics, present in the didactic manual of the fourth year of Elementary School. The methodology took the form of documentary research and focused on the didactic manual of the Mathematics Ápis collection (2017). The framework was based on the theory of Mathematics Teacher’s Specialised Knowledge (2018), which classifies the Mathematics Teacher's Specialized Knowledge into six subdomains. When studying and analyzing the mentioned manual, we classified the passages indicated by the MTSK studies, highlighting the subdomains that stood out the most. Understanding this knowledge allows us to identify the possible causes of the difficulties presented by the students when studying the contents that involve Probability and Statistics, since the predominant subdomains can lead teachers to develop a practice more related to the specific or pedagogical content of the content. As a result, the subdomains that stood out the most were two related to the specific domain of Mathematics, thus proposing that the teacher has the ability of intra and interconceptual knowledge applied to the present thematic axis. Finally, it is interesting to note that if we study from other collections, other subdomains may stand out, obtaining different results.
